Everybody, everything and every moment has a unique reason for being
‘You have many talents’ a palm reader once told me. ‘And that can make it very difficult for you.’
It is only after years of exploring my many talents in the outside world, that I understand the advantage and challenges that come with this gift.
My journey of self-exploration, finding my unique reason to be, took me around the world and kept me busy in mind and matter for a long time.
It all started in Art School, which I, however, didn’t finish. Instead I chose to work in the ‘real’ world of applied arts and design.
First for third parties, soon followed by the creation of my own clothing labels and even a concept store.
What I had learned on my journey in the world of design I could pass on to others through teaching.
My passion to go where no one has gone before brought me to faraway places, which I have captured in millions of pictures.
Pictures of my travels were featured in magazines.
But it was only when I stopped looking outside myself, and when I tapped into the field of not-knowing,
that I realized that the reason for being and change does not come from the outside, but from within myself.
In 2017 my book OUT OF FASHION | THE NEW FASHION came out in a limited edition. A true matter of soul.
While my work starts from the not-knowing, every book has its own unique reason to be.
My art pieces, one-of-kind props, come into being while creating my books.
There are no borders between work and home. That is why even the creation/renovation of our houseboat is a piece of art. A Gesamtkunstwerk.
Today, living in a world of too much, I feel the urge to create space rather than stuff.
Transforming waste into beauty. Embracing the ageing of things. With nature as my partner.
Whereas place and time are limited human constructs, creativity is a field of unlimited possibilities.
I create from what is, from wherever I am. Imagination is unlimited. This is why I prefer to work in situ.
You don’t have to go anywhere to be everywhere.
From unique reasons to be … to just be…
